New Minimum Wage for 2021

Beginning Jan. 1, 2021, for employers with 26 employees or more, the minimum wage will increase from $13 per hour to $14 per hour. An employee is "exempt" from hourly wage laws (e.g., overtime, meal and rest breaks, etc.) if they make $58,240 or more.


For employers with 25 employees or less, the minimum wage will increase from $12 per hour to $13 per hour. An employee is "exempt" from hourly wage laws (e.g., overtime, meal and rest breaks, etc.) if they make $54,080 or more.


Some cities have their own minimum wage laws. For example, minimum wage in San Francisco beginning Jan. 1, 2021 is $16.32.
