State Senate Passes Bill Expanding California Family Rights Act

Beginning January 1, 2022, the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) will include parents-in-law to family members with serious health conditions for which an employee can take leave under CFRA. Currently, an employee may only take a covered CFRA leave for their own serious illness, or the serious illness of a parent or child. The new law reflects the realities of life, whereby an employees' in-laws need assistance.
